Lions Fun Day
Fishguard & Goodwick Lions have held an annual Fun Day every year since 2000, shortly after the club was formed. The event has been a great success and is the club's main fund raiser to support donations to local charities and good causes. The next Fun Days is planned for Saturday 26th July 2008, once again on Goodwick Moor Car Park.
Lions Fun Day Report. Saturday 21st July 2007 at Goodwick Moor car park.
When compared to the pictures seen from around the country over the past weekend, Fishguard & Goodwick Lions were very fortunate to have only a slightly damp day for their 8th Fun Day. The firm surface of the Goodwick Moor car park was a big bonus and allowed a good number of attractions, but sadly the many of the games planned for the grass area were not possible. The Mayor of Fishguard & Goodwick, cllr. Richard Davies formally opened the day and the Mayoress, Maria Nicholas was presented with a bouquet of flowers. Entertainment was provided by the music of local groups Night Life and All Spice, which had people of all ages dancing in the rain. The training section of the Goodwick Brass Band was also much appreciated, after their quick transfer onto the dry stage. Another attraction was Circus Malarky who held a circus workshop to some enthralled children. Later, the Mayor drew the winner of the £100 Lucky Programme draw, Lynne Berryman; and the names of winners of the raffles; Babs and Marion.
The Lions would particularly like to thank all the brave souls who attended, including all the artistes, stallholders and the public; who ensured the event took place. It is this great support that the Lions receive from our local community, which allows the help given to local good causes and which is greatly appreciated. Here’s hoping for a return of sunny weather very soon, and for next year’s event – this is planned for Saturday 26th July 2008.
